WWI U.S. Army Enlisted Collar Disk U.S. Brass Screw Back Insignia World War I Doughboy Military Uniform Badge PC Marked
Original early 20th century one-piece service collar device with threaded post, retaining nut, anti-rotation prongs, aged patina and documented unidentified maker hallmark
$29.00
An authentic World War I U.S. Army enlisted collar disk, this original one-piece brass military insignia features the bold raised “U.S.” device worn by enlisted soldiers on the right collar of the service uniform. Dating to the WWI and early interwar era, the approximately 1-inch disk retains its original screw-back construction with threaded post, retaining nut, and dual anti-rotation prongs designed to hold the insignia securely against the uniform collar. The reverse is stamped with an intertwined “PC” maker’s hallmark within a square cartouche, a mark documented by military insignia researchers but presently unidentified.
Introduced in the early twentieth century, screw-back collar disks became a distinctive component of the American enlisted uniform and were standard during World War I. The “U.S.” disk identified the national service designation and was worn opposite the branch-of-service collar disk, making surviving examples recognizable pieces of original Doughboy uniform insignia. This example retains an appealing aged brass patina and honest surface wear consistent with its age, preserving the character collectors seek in original military artifacts rather than a polished or restored appearance.
A strong addition to a collection of WWI militaria, U.S. Army insignia, World War I uniform accessories, Doughboy memorabilia, antique military badges or early American military collectibles, the disk offers both historical significance and display appeal in a compact original artifact. It remains complete with its period fastening hardware and has been left as found with its patina intact.
