$89.00

A wonderfully detailed piece of American collectible glass, this Summit Art Glass Owl in Stump toothpick holder reproduces Central Glass Company’s historic No. 866 form, known to collectors as “Owl in Stump.” The deeply molded design surrounds the vessel with woodland imagery, including a wonderfully dimensional owl projecting from the side of the textured tree stump. Executed in transparent yellow-green uranium glass, the piece takes on the distinctive brilliant fluorescence associated with vaseline glass under ultraviolet light.

Summit Art Glass was among the American glassmakers that revived historic pressed-glass designs for later generations of collectors. This example can be distinguished from the original Central Glass production by the characteristic interior ridge immediately beneath the upper rim, a feature documented on reproduction toothpick holders. The combination of the Victorian-era pattern, figural owl motif and UV-reactive uranium glass gives this later 20th-century piece appeal across several collecting areas, including Summit Art Glass, vaseline glass, uranium glass, animal and bird glass, reproduction EAPG patterns and vintage toothpick holders.

The piece remains visually striking, with strong molded detail and scattered trapped air bubbles characteristic of pressed-glass manufacture. One chip is present along the upper rim, as shown in the photographs; no other chips, cracks or condition issues were noted upon examination. A distinctive display piece that preserves one of Central Glass Company’s memorable figural designs in glowing uranium glass.
