Vintage Renoir Copper Choker Necklace Mid Century Modern Geometric Modernist Designer Jewelry
Signed 1950s Atomic Age sculptural collar with articulated dimensional square links, architectural linear design and original warm patina, collectible American studio jewelry
$89.00
Strong geometric lines and dimensional copper construction define this signed vintage Renoir choker necklace, a striking example of American Mid-Century Modern jewelry design. Created as a series of articulated square copper panels, the necklace combines clean architectural geometry with the warm, hand-finished character that made Renoir one of the most recognizable names in vintage modernist copper jewelry.
Each dimensional panel features a raised rectangular form accented by paired horizontal ridges and dark recessed oxidation, creating a dramatic linear contrast against the warm copper surface. Small articulated connectors join the individual elements, allowing the necklace to curve naturally around the neckline while preserving its structured, sculptural silhouette. The combination of repeating geometric forms and restrained ornamentation gives the piece a distinctly modernist, Atomic Age aesthetic.
The necklace measures approximately 13.5 inches in total length, creating a true choker or close-fitting collar silhouette. An adjustable extension chain provides some flexibility in fit. The reverse of one panel is clearly signed with the Renoir copyright mark, confirming the maker.
The copper retains its warm vintage finish with naturally developed patina, darker oxidation in the recessed areas, and age-appropriate surface wear from previous use. Areas of verdigris are visible on the reverse and around some of the recessed and connecting elements, as shown in the close-up photographs. The necklace has been left with its vintage character intact rather than aggressively polished. Please review all photographs closely for the current condition and surface details.
Founded by Jerry Fels, Renoir of California became celebrated for modernist copper jewelry that translated the clean lines and abstract forms of postwar design into wearable art. This unusual articulated choker captures that aesthetic beautifully, combining architectural geometry, dimensional construction, and the rich warmth of copper in a distinctive collector-worthy statement necklace.
An excellent addition to a collection of Renoir jewelry, vintage copper, American modernist jewelry, Mid-Century Modern design, or Atomic Age accessories, this signed geometric necklace has exceptional sculptural presence both worn and displayed.
