Vintage Gonder Pottery Wheat Sheaf Curtain Vase Mid Century Ceramic Ohio Art Pottery
Sculptural golden harvest vase with tied grain bundle and asymmetrical opening, vintage farmhouse cottage rustic decor, dried flower vessel, fall centerpiece, botanical display and collectible American ceramics
$59.00
Warm golden color, sculptural modeling and classic American art pottery design come together in this vintage Gonder Pottery wheat sheaf curtain vase. Molded as a gathered bundle of wheat or grain secured by a dimensional twisted rope band, the vase transforms a traditional harvest motif into an impressive decorative ceramic form. The graduated stalks create a dramatic asymmetrical curtain-style opening suitable for fresh flowers, dried botanicals or seasonal arrangements, while the sculptural silhouette gives the vase strong decorative presence even when displayed empty.
The richly variegated honey-gold, caramel and golden brown glaze develops beautiful woodgrain-like movement across the raised stalks, emphasizing the individual forms and dimensional modeling. Sculpted rope detailing encircles the center of the gathered sheaf, while the flared lower stalks form a substantial scalloped base. Its combination of vintage American pottery, agricultural imagery and warm earth-toned glaze makes this an appealing piece for Gonder and Ohio art pottery collectors as well as Mid-Century, farmhouse, cottage, rustic, harvest and fall decor.
The vase measures approximately 7 1/2 inches tall by approximately 7 inches wide. It remains in very good vintage condition overall. Age-related glaze crazing is visible, particularly on the underside and lower areas, along with minor firing and manufacturing variations characteristic of vintage pottery. A tiny chip is present along the underside edge of the base, as shown in the photographs; it is located underneath and does not detract from the vase when displayed upright. No cracks or repairs were observed.
A distinctive example of vintage Gonder Pottery, this sculptural wheat sheaf vase combines functional floral display with the timeless symbolism of grain, harvest and abundance. Its unusual curtain form and warm golden glaze make it equally suited to an American art pottery collection, vintage ceramic display, autumn centerpiece, dried flower arrangement or year-round farmhouse and cottage interior.
