Attributed to Bay Keramik, this expressive design dates to approximately the 1960s–1970s and exemplifies the creative forms and vibrant glazes that made West German art pottery an international design icon during the Mid-Century Modern era.
The vase features a gracefully tapered ovoid body rising to an unusual triangular opening that dramatically changes its appearance from every angle. Bands of brilliant atomic yellow and warm burnt orange flow horizontally around the body, separated by irregular chocolate brown lines that create depth and movement rather than rigid stripes. Fine mottling within the glossy glaze enhances the handcrafted appearance, while the saturated retro palette gives the piece strong Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, and vintage European design appeal.
The underside is impressed WEST GERMANY and form number 933. This form has been attributed to Bay Keramik, one of the best-known producers of West German art pottery during the postwar period.
