Delicate craftsmanship and understated elegance define this vintage ribbon-bound birthday greeting card dating to the late 1910s or 1920s. The miniature booklet-style card features a linen weave textured cover printed with a soft watercolor garden scene of two birds perched beside a birdbath, accented by graceful "Happy Birthday" lettering and hand-tied satin ribbon binding. Inside is a charming birthday verse printed on fine paper, while the back remains plain. The card is accompanied by its original blank envelope and original translucent protective sleeve, details that collectors rarely find preserved together. This example comes from my paternal grandfather's long-preserved collection and has remained together as originally acquired, preserving its integrity as an authentic salesman sample piece. The card measures approximately 4¼ by 3 inches. Four examples are available: two with lavender ribbon and two with pink ribbon. All include their original envelope and protective sleeve. The envelopes display the typical outline left by decades of storage with the enclosed card, the protective sleeves show light age toning and wear consistent with age, and one card has a few small age flecks on the cover while the remaining examples are cleaner. Beautiful for collectors of antique greeting cards, Art Deco paper ephemera, ribbon-bound greeting cards, salesman samples, vintage birthday cards, and early American paper collectibles.
