$180.00

Vivid cobalt blue glass and richly dimensional metalwork give this matched pair of antique Art Deco dress clips exceptional color, depth, and vintage glamour. Each clip is designed as a dramatic grape or berry cluster composed of six large faceted oval blue glass stones, smaller round blue glass accents, and raised textured leaves that overlap the stones to create a sculptural, layered composition. The glass shifts from deep sapphire blue to brilliant electric cobalt as it catches natural light, producing far greater visual impact than darker conventional blue rhinestone jewelry. All of the stones are individually prong set in closed-back gold-tone metal settings, while the detailed leaves display finely rendered veins and softly curled edges.

The reverse of each piece is fitted with an ornate engraved hinged dress-clip mechanism rather than a plain utilitarian back, reflecting the care given to both the visible and functional sides of the jewelry. One reverse is marked “PAT. PEND.,” an important early construction detail consistent with American dress clips of the late 1930s to 1940s. Originally worn at the neckline, on a dress, jacket, lapel, hat, scarf, or evening accessory, the two clips may be styled together as a symmetrical pair or worn separately.

Each clip measures approximately 1 1/2 inches long by 1 9/16 inches wide. The faceted stones are glass and remain arranged as a complete matching pair. The gold-tone metal retains naturally aged patina, darkening, and areas of finish wear consistent with authentic early costume jewelry, while the cobalt blue glass remains intensely colorful and highly reflective. Their matched survival, bold grape-cluster motif, substantial layered construction, and beautifully decorated clip backs make these especially appealing for collectors of Art Deco jewelry, antique dress clips, blue glass jewelry, and early unsigned costume jewelry.
