$149.00

Early U.S. Air Force aviation history is represented in this full-size sterling silver Senior Navigator/Observer badge by N.S. Meyer Inc. of New York. The approximately 3-inch wings feature the shield-centered Navigator/Observer design introduced by the U.S. Air Force in 1951, with a five-point star above the central shield denoting the Senior rating. Deeply modeled feathers, a detailed central device and the elevated star give the badge strong dimensional presence characteristic of regulation military aviation insignia.

The reverse is clearly marked “N.S. Meyer Inc. New York” and “Sterling” and bears the distinctive N.S. Meyer shield hallmarks. Both attachment posts remain intact and straight, although the original clutch backs are no longer present. The central shield and Senior-rating star are separately applied components and remain securely attached. Measuring approximately 3 inches wide by 1 3/8 inches tall, the badge retains crisp detail throughout. The sterling has been left unpolished with its natural patina intact, and minor surface wear is consistent with age and use.

The shield-centered design places these wings in the independent U.S. Air Force era rather than the World War II Army Air Forces period. Combining N.S. Meyer manufacture, solid sterling silver construction, full-size format and the Senior Navigator/Observer rating, the badge has strong appeal for collectors of early USAF insignia, Cold War militaria, vintage military pins, sterling military pins and American aviation memorabilia.
