Vintage Interwar U.S. Army Insignia H&H Hilborn Hamburger 10K Top Private Purchase Eagle Military Pin

This vintage U.S. Army miniature insignia is a finely made private-purchase piece by Hilborn-Hamburger, one of the recognized American manufacturers of military insignia. The small but exceptionally detailed design features the Great Seal eagle beneath raised “USA” lettering, with crisp feathering, shield detail and sculptural relief that distinguish it from ordinary military pins.

The reverse bears the H&H maker hallmark associated with Hilborn-Hamburger and is marked “10K TOP,” indicating its higher-grade gold-topped construction. Hilborn-Hamburger is documented producing premium precious-metal military insignia during the pre-WWII period, including surviving circa-1925 examples in gold and sterling construction. The miniature format and jewelry-style horizontal pinback are consistent with a privately purchased insignia rather than a standard full-size regulation cap device.

Measuring approximately 3/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch tall, the pin retains its original pin stem and clasp. The gold surface remains bright with attractive age-related tonal variation and light wear consistent with vintage use. No repairs, breaks or alterations were observed. Its combination of miniature scale, private-purchase construction, H&H manufacture and 10K TOP marking gives it particular appeal to collectors of early U.S. Army insignia, vintage military pins, pre-WWII militaria and gold military insignia.
