1948 Hello From Alaska Illustrated Booklet Dwight Mutchler Pictorial Map National Dairy Council First Postwar Printing

Filled with colorful illustrations and fascinating historical content, this original 1948 edition of Hello From Alaska offers a wonderful snapshot of America's northern frontier just before Alaska achieved statehood. Originally copyrighted in 1945 by the National Dairy Council of Chicago, the booklet was written by Mildred Celia Letton of The Laboratory School at the University of Chicago and beautifully illustrated by Dwight Mutchler. Combining education with engaging artwork, it introduces readers to Alaska's geography, wildlife, Native cultures, early exploration, natural resources, transportation, and everyday life through richly illustrated pages that capture the optimism and curiosity of the postwar era.

Measuring approximately 8⅝ inches by 5½ inches, the booklet retains its original illustrated paper covers and remains firmly bound with clean, highly readable pages. Highlights include striking full-color cover artwork, numerous black-and-color illustrations throughout, historical narratives about Vitus Bering and Captain Cook, discussions of the Alaska Highway, wildlife and natural resources, and an outstanding full-color pictorial map of Alaska illustrating regional industries, wildlife, communities, and landmarks. Condition is very good vintage overall. The front cover has a small edge tear and light handling wear. The back cover and final page show light creasing near the lower corner with a small amount of minor age-related staining at the bottom edge. The interior pages remain clean, bright, complete, and securely bound, preserving the booklet's excellent display appeal.

This booklet comes from my family's long-preserved collection and has remained carefully preserved for decades.
