Vintage Francisco Rebajes Copper Necklace Signed Mid Century Modernist Geometric Disc Statement Jewelry

Sculptural geometry and unmistakable Francisco Rebajes design give this signed vintage copper necklace exceptional Mid-Century Modern presence. Created in the Rebajes workshop tradition, the necklace is composed of articulated round copper links, each accented with a dimensional applied spiral or comma-shaped element and raised circular boss. Domed copper spacer links alternate between the larger discs, creating a rhythmic, highly dimensional design that changes beautifully with movement.

Francisco Rebajes was an important figure in American modernist jewelry, developing his distinctive copper designs in New York and building a workshop that became especially successful during the 1940s and 1950s. Skilled craftspeople produced jewelry from Rebajes designs and prototypes, making surviving signed pieces desirable to collectors of American studio jewelry, vintage copper jewelry, Mid-Century Modern design and wearable modernist art. This necklace is signed “Rebajes” on the round terminal tag at the end of the extension chain, as clearly shown in the photographs.

The necklace measures approximately 17 3/4 inches long and offers slight adjustment through its hook-and-chain closure. It remains unpolished, retaining the warm copper coloration, darker recessed patina and surface character developed with age. Light scratches, oxidation and other age-appropriate wear are visible, particularly on the reverse, but the articulated construction appears intact and the necklace presents beautifully when worn.
