Elegant late nineteenth-century pressed glass design and crisp geometric ornament make this antique Bryce, Higbee & Co. master salt cellar an appealing example of the Spirea Band pattern, introduced around 1885. Also collected under the names Earl and Square & Dot, the pattern combines a classic square pedestal form with an attractive band of repeating diamond motifs that frames the upper border, giving this open salt a refined Victorian appearance while remaining distinctly Early American Pattern Glass.
Measuring approximately 3 inches tall, this master salt was intended for use as the larger communal salt cellar on the dining table rather than as an individual open salt. The clear glass retains excellent pattern definition and displays beautifully in natural light, making it equally suitable for EAPG collections, Victorian table settings, or decorative display among antique pressed glass.
Condition is very good overall. One small chip is present on the corner of one foot. No other chips or cracks were found during inspection. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description..
