$109.00
Original Bryce Brothers children's mugs are among the most charming survivors of Victorian American glassmaking, and this cobalt blue Heron & Peacock example beautifully illustrates why collectors continue to seek them more than a century later. Produced during the mid-1880s, the miniature mug features finely molded images of a graceful heron and an elegant peacock surrounded by marsh vegetation, combining naturalistic detail with the crisp workmanship that established Bryce Brothers as one of America's premier pressed glass manufacturers. The rich cobalt blue glass provides dramatic depth while allowing the intricate bird decoration to emerge as light passes through the body of the mug.
Designed for everyday use by children, these miniature mugs experienced a far higher rate of loss and breakage than larger household glassware, making well-preserved original examples increasingly difficult to acquire today. Measuring approximately 2¾ inches tall and about 3 inches wide including the handle, this example remains in exceptional antique condition with no chips, cracks, flea bites, or repairs found. The glass retains outstanding gloss, sharp mold definition and excellent color, making it a premium example for collectors of Bryce Brothers, Early American Pattern Glass, Victorian children's tableware, antique cobalt glass, nineteenth-century American pressed glass and miniature antique glassware.
