Vintage 1930s Nelson McCoy Leaves and Flowers Small Vase Two Handle Green Brown Art Pottery

Sculptural flowers, tall sweeping leaves and slender twin handles give this early Nelson McCoy vase a particularly strong Arts and Crafts to Art Deco presence. Produced in Ohio during the 1930s, this is the smaller approximately 6-inch version of McCoy's collectible Leaves and Flowers design, a form also encountered under collector descriptions such as floral, dogwood and amaryllis vase. The compact size retains all of the dimensional detail of the larger form, with the handles rising from the lower body and joining beneath the broad flared rim.

The glaze is especially attractive on this example, transitioning from warm caramel and golden brown across the upper body into moss, olive and deeper green over the molded leaves and flowers. Glaze has pooled heavily around portions of the raised foot, producing the lighter, irregular-looking areas visible in the photographs; these are glaze and firing characteristics rather than later paint or applied material. Fine age-related glaze crazing is also visible. The underside is unmarked, consistent with many early Nelson McCoy pieces.

Approximately 6 inches tall. This vintage McCoy vase remains free of chips, cracks and repairs observed. The small Leaves and Flowers form, dimensional botanical decoration and two-tone earth-color glaze make it an appealing piece for Nelson McCoy collectors as well as collectors of 1930s Ohio art pottery, early American ceramics, Arts and Crafts pottery, Art Deco pottery and vintage botanical décor.
