The beauty of America's northern Rockies is elegantly celebrated in this complete vintage Wild Flowers of Glacier National Park postcard portfolio, produced exclusively for the Glacier Park Hotel Company during the Great Northern Railway tourism era. Dating to approximately the late 1930s through early 1940s, this original souvenir packet contains all twelve unused color lithograph postcards illustrated by artist W. Loos, whose detailed botanical artwork captures the remarkable alpine wildflowers found throughout Glacier National Park and neighboring Waterton Lakes National Park. Complete portfolios with their original presentation sleeve are increasingly difficult to find, as many were separated into individual postcards over the decades.
Each postcard measures approximately 5 x 4½ inches and remains unused with clean postcard backs identifying the featured wildflowers. The illustrations are beautifully printed on smooth coated postcard stock, characteristic of quality color lithographic production from the period, with vibrant colors and fine botanical detail that make the set equally appealing to collectors of National Park memorabilia, vintage travel souvenirs, botanical art, and historic postcards.
Condition is very good vintage overall. All twelve postcards remain together in the original printed presentation sleeve. The postcards show light age-appropriate handling with one small corner bump noted on a single card. The original sleeve displays expected age toning, edge wear, and a horizontal crease, yet remains structurally intact and continues to present the portfolio attractively while preserving its originality.
This complete portfolio comes from my family's long-held collection of vintage paper ephemera and represents a wonderful surviving souvenir from the golden age of Glacier National Park tourism, offering collectors an increasingly scarce opportunity to acquire an intact Glacier Park Hotel Company postcard set exactly as it would have been purchased by park visitors more than eighty years ago.
